Production Associate

Job Description

 

The Production Associate (PA) works as part of a team in the production and shipping of Cannabis products for the company. The PA’s day-to-day activities may include but are not limited to, facility cleaning and sanitizing, production room setup and take down, packaging of dry flower, manufacturing pre-rolls and other cannabis products, labelling, record keeping, shipping and packing.

 

Working in a highly regulated environment the PA has excellent personal hygiene. When executing all assigned tasks the PA ensures they follow all workspace cleanliness protocols and quality control measures ensuring quality standards are met, SOP’s followed and/or direction followed accurately and in a timely fashion to ensure the production of high-quality products.

 

Initially this will be a casual on call position which may extend full time hours depending on performance.

The interview process involves a trial paid shift to ensure competency.

 

Job Responsibilities

The roles and responsibilities are outlined below and fall into 5 key areas. They include and are not limited to the following:

1. Accuracy and Expected Performance Standards

  • Accurate weighing of cannabis in various increments in grams.
  • Accurate placing of weighed product into proper childproof vessels or containers.
  • Visually check and verify that assembled products meet Company Quality Standards.
  • Maintain proper documentation throughout all operations.
  • Follow directions by Lead, Coordinator, or Management regarding performance, attitude, attendance, and general productivity.
  • Complete accurate data entry and documentation.
  • Step in when other tasks need to be completed.
  • Be open to work overtime when required.

2. Quality and SOP compliance

  • Follow all company standard operating procedures to maintain compliance with Health Canada regulations.
  • Perform proper set up and daily operation of filling, packaging, and labeling.
  • Maintain SOP productivity continuously, as per the standard.
  • Comply with all Quality Assurance requirements and policies.

3. Security

  • Ensuring compliance and accuracy involving all product security and product movement procedures
  • Follow all company security policies and protocols

4. Safety and Sanitation

  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including lab coats, mask, gloves, and hairnets.
  • Utilize cleaning agents and sanitation tools to sanitize production areas safely.
  • Comply with all provincial Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and company safety policies.
  • Participate in maintaining a safe and clean work environment for everyone.

5. Packing, labeling and shipping

  • Execute all filling and packaging in an efficient manner in compliance with the company’s applicable manufacturing procedures.
  • Assemble, package and label multiple Company’s products.
  • Correctly sealing and labeling all packages.
  • Follow written instructions to ensure products are assembled and packed in accordance with customer specifications.

 

Qualifications:

  • Completion of High School is required
  • Must be 19+ years to be employed in this role
  • Must be able to work with cleaning chemicals – WHMIS training will be provided where required.

  • Able to spot gaps and issues with internal processes/procedures and tactfully raise with leadership.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to perform tasks to meet or exceed quality and production requirements.

 

Security Clearance

Cannabis is a highly regulated environment as such a satisfactory criminal record check is mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift ~ 20 lbs.
  • Able to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Able to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy.
  • Able to work in loud, cool, bright environments for extended periods of time.
  • Fine motor function – there is a continuous need for manual dexterity using both hands independently and simultaneously (handling, gripping, fine finger controls, etc.).

 

Compensation Package

 

$16.75 per hour, reviewed after successful completion of the probationary period.

The position starts as casual on call which may include evenings and weekends. Shifts are 8-10 hours long, up to 40 hours per week depending on averaging agreements.

Overtime may be requested, to meet deadlines.
